I fucking hate Tuesdays, but this doesn't really prove it.

There is a homeless man who lives near this magazine/cigarette stand on Broadway around 9th street, and I am always in a rush on the way to class whenever I pass. But the last few times I've been past him, I've noticed that he is always talking to someone, and they range from all walks of life. I guess I noticed since it's a little unusual to see him ALWAYS speaking with someone. He's a little older and has gray, frazzled hair. So curiously, as I was passing him today, I took a glance at his sign. Immediately, I understood why he was so popular: it says, "VOLDEMORT BROKE MY WAND - NEED $$$ FOR NEW ONE" ....AMAZING.

What a crazy fucking day! It started with me waking up at 9:30am and trying to fall back asleep but waking up every 20 minutes thinking it was time for me to get ready. This involved some weird dreams, one of which I had Leopard installed on my Macbook and some creepo tried to randomly iChat video me. My classes were okay... I actually understood what my Conwest professor was talking about, and might've even found it a little interesting. Then was my lunch break and I ate some Whole Foods sushi. Spanish class was next and I took a quiz (which I got 10/10 on, sweeeet). Walked back to the dorm with Sarah and some dude on a bike screamed at me "MOVE!!!!" in front of a huge crowd, even though we had right of way. I've never been publicly verbally assaulted like that before.

It was my dad's 55th birthday today and since he had to bring me a camcorder for one of my classes, I asked if he wanted to do dinner. He came down to Union Square around 6:30, there was some drama with my sister and her coming, but it ended up just being us two. We went to a fancy shmancy place on 9th Ave called Old Homestead Steakhouse, apparently it's the oldest steakhouse in NYC. Pretty cool. The food was excellent and the service too, as I'd hope for the money it cost!! But it was nice and I never get to eat nice dinners like that. It made me really happy to make my dad so happy too. Apparently he is a Dirty Sexy Money fan.... Pops is so down with it, yo!

So tomorrow my roomie's mom is coming to NYC to visit, and I found out a few days ago that it's to stay with US. In our dorm. I guess Tals has every right to invite her mom to come since she does live here and 1/4 of the apartment is essentially hers, but it was out of the blue and she didn't really ask us first. I'm excited to meet her but it will just be super weird having her staying in our apartment with us.... like SUPER weird. I'm not used to spending that much time with anyone's mother!

And to my uttermost joy, House is back on. Wilson in a reindeer hat just does funny things to me.

I need to become a nicer person.

Um that song's not that funny anymore.

LOL @ My grandma, who sent me this e-card for my birthday at like midnight:

Always a reference to my tits! Hey 19, how you doing?

And apparently my new moisturizer is giving me a rash. Boo.

The real life Dr. Tobias Fünke. I swear.

So I'm a sucker for the American Idol auditions because I love the crazy people who come on, and they are getting crazier by the season. Take this guy for instance: his name is Milo and when he walked on, I swear I thought it was David Cross!! From the clothing to the voice and the glasses and mustache and personality... and the song pretty much epitomizes Tobias, in my opinion. If the show ever comes back, this NEEDS to be part of an episode.

Nineteen tomorrow. I've somehow acquired $400 in the past few days but I will be damned if I spent it on something other than a birthday gift. I'm saving up for that stupid camera, thinking a Digital Rebel from Canon. But camera speak still confuses me so all the odds and ends are bits I'll have to sort out. Dream come true here I come.

EDIT: Milo has a MySpace!! AND a website! He's even been on Jimmy Kimmel. Kudos to you, Tobias-Twin, for making it in whatever way you have.

countdowns are so lame if no confetti is involved.

I had a birthday-type gathering at my house last night. It was kind of a bum-out at first since a couple of people cancelled, and Michelle and I ended up heading to California PIzza Kitchen for dinner ourselves. But in the end, it had turned into the fun, intimate night I had pictured. Chocolate strawberry shortcake and double birthday song since it was Clara's birthday at midnight, a game of Taboo that got drunkenly bombarded by my sister and her friend, videochat hijinx, gossip, lots of Guitar Hero, screwdriver, and a piggyback ride. Silly things happen in my basement, like Dan imitating MC Hammer after everyone left:

I think birthday shenanigans are definitely going to continue into the next week, into my actual birthday and probably beyond. Two week long celebrations could be my jam, alright?! I assume these events will also be littered with fun activities a la binge drinking, going out to eat, karaoke, etc. Not to mention two shows next weekend....going to see Au Revoir Simone on Friday night with Esther and Kevin Devine on Saturday with Lia and Jon, both at Bowery Ballroom. The first is a trio of girls from Brooklyn who make songs with three keyboards. It's fantastic. As for Kevin... well, if you don't already know who that leprechaun is, you've been missing out for far far too long.

As for presents, everyone keeps asking me what I want and I don't KNOW. The simple answer would be a designer pair of sunglasses, or a new fancy bag, but my heart really isn't set on that stupid materialistic crap right now. I need a new hobby, so I'm pining for a digital SLR camera to start working on fucking photography like I've wanted to forever. Or, (but possibly in addition), I'd like an acoustic guitar. I feel like I could get decent enough to write simple songs if I wanted to, and that would also quench my thirst to write through lyrics. Right now, though, I think the camera is a better investment...SO HEY PHOTOGRAPHERS, what should I be looking at? Can you give me any recommendations as to cameras/styles/brands? I'm thinking Canon or Nikon but I don't want to get ahead of myself.

Here, two Macbook pics from birthday thing since I didn't get many on my regular camera....

Ya that's my mom on the right, she wanted some iSight action.

Oh and I did make a birthday wish, but I can't tell you guys what it is cause then it may not come true and you can't see shooting stars in New York City.

ring me back when you aren't actually being penetrated

Just had one of the greatest days of vacation yet. Such a nice day too, like 60 degrees in the beginning of January?? Global warming is RUINING US. We went into the city to ice skate (at which time I found out I couldn't and got soaking wet because of the melty ice rink). I called and Alex while everyone else finished skating and then we headed over to Esther's for a baking/Arrested Development party. Anita and Christine met up and the rest of the night entailed Olive Garden, trying to sign all of them into my dorm at NYU and failing miserably, and going to hookah instead. The night ended with taro bubbletea and finding out my "friends" are as immature as I took them for. We'll see where that goes.

Anyway, my new favorite thing ever? This British drama/comedy called Skins. It's only aired there and I saw the season 2 promo on LiveJournal, was super curious, and checked it out. LOVED IT. It's about a group of friends who are all attending public college and are just fucking crazy. Really horny, want to party and get drunk/high constantly, and they're all combating their personal issues. Kind of like Degrassi on steroids and heroin. My favorite character is Sid, who is kind of in the shadow of his best friend Tony and is really a sweet guy who tries but is still kind of unlucky and a little dorky, even. He's the one in the glasses and the beanie:

And yeah, the dude to his left in the green tshirt is Nicholas Hoult, who was the little kid in About A Boy. KID GOT HOT! Even sexier, he's a huge douchebag on the show... SO do yourselves a favor and watch this show! Some online links are available at alluc.org.

My television addiction is becoming quite sad. The new episodes that will air in the next week are making me happy beyond belief (like the 2 hr premiere of One Tree Hill tomorrow night? Chinese take-out and I am there!), therefore it's going to be really depressing when everything is over and I am out of shit to watch. Legit out, since I've become a DVD box set monger. I'm already done with seasons 1 and 2 of Arrested Development... guess season 3 will be purchased as soon as I find it.... BUT WTF WRITER'S STRIKE?!? This cannot continue. I need DSM and Ugly Betty in my lives... a nationwide bakesale is in order to fix this entertainment problem.

Birthday soon. In less than 10 days, to be exact. Not that I am counting or awaiting nineteen with any excitement, because what fun is it honestly? I can buy cigarettes at home but I'm over smoking when I'm sober. Andy Jajja is going to be back in town the day before my birthday so he may come chill on Long Island and meet some peeps. That made me super happy talking to him tonight. And Alex earlier... I miss my NYU friends so much now. Yuck.
