My grandma on my dad's side passed away last weekend. I was never as close with her as I am with G, my mom's mom and the epitome of my fave person on the planet ever. The saddest part for me was seeing my dad upset and crying. Her funeral was very intimate, was short and sweet and right at the burial site. I hugged my aunt and uncle for my dad even though I didn't want to. My grandma was never the same after my grandpa died, so now they can be happy together wherever they are in the afterlife.

On to less depressing and spiritual things... I bought myself an acoustic guitar yesterday! It's a beautiful Ibanez and I've decided to call it Machiavelli, just because he was always a kickass guy to me and I think his motto goes well with the process of learning to play an instrument: "The end justifies the means." Machiavelli cost me $240, plus an extra hundred for all the proper accessories and taxes. I need to buy a capo so I can play some songs on a higher scale, but that can wait I suppose. I've taught myself the chords to "Anyone Else But You" by The Moldy Peaches. Imma get good, just you wait n' see.

My suitemates and I decided this weekend we're going to have a little get together at our dorm called CEOs and Office Hos (title copyright Sarah Gehle 2008). Basically, we're going to dress up and dress down at the same time and combine the 9-5 dress code with a little nightlife sexy. I'm such a cornball honestly, I love themed parties and all that jazz. This may require a sexy new bra from Victoria's Secret, but I won't get ahead of myself.

But talk about a dream, I saw the Spice Girls on Wednesday night. Fucking unreal!! 8 year old me would've cried and then shit herself. I almost did as 19 year old me. It just upsets me that there were like...12 year old girls there who were probably 2 or 3 when the Spice Girls hit their prime. I bet they don't even remember the pain of when Ginger left....I do...she was my favorite.

Going to try to go to an advance screening of Run Fatboy Run tomorrow night at AMC Lincoln Center. A girl on my floor saw Simon Pegg two days ago at Chelsea Market and they talked on line. I've had some negative luck the past few days, let's hope it goes my way starting tomorrow!

I fucking hate Tuesdays, but this doesn't really prove it.

There is a homeless man who lives near this magazine/cigarette stand on Broadway around 9th street, and I am always in a rush on the way to class whenever I pass. But the last few times I've been past him, I've noticed that he is always talking to someone, and they range from all walks of life. I guess I noticed since it's a little unusual to see him ALWAYS speaking with someone. He's a little older and has gray, frazzled hair. So curiously, as I was passing him today, I took a glance at his sign. Immediately, I understood why he was so popular: it says, "VOLDEMORT BROKE MY WAND - NEED $$$ FOR NEW ONE" ....AMAZING.

What a crazy fucking day! It started with me waking up at 9:30am and trying to fall back asleep but waking up every 20 minutes thinking it was time for me to get ready. This involved some weird dreams, one of which I had Leopard installed on my Macbook and some creepo tried to randomly iChat video me. My classes were okay... I actually understood what my Conwest professor was talking about, and might've even found it a little interesting. Then was my lunch break and I ate some Whole Foods sushi. Spanish class was next and I took a quiz (which I got 10/10 on, sweeeet). Walked back to the dorm with Sarah and some dude on a bike screamed at me "MOVE!!!!" in front of a huge crowd, even though we had right of way. I've never been publicly verbally assaulted like that before.

It was my dad's 55th birthday today and since he had to bring me a camcorder for one of my classes, I asked if he wanted to do dinner. He came down to Union Square around 6:30, there was some drama with my sister and her coming, but it ended up just being us two. We went to a fancy shmancy place on 9th Ave called Old Homestead Steakhouse, apparently it's the oldest steakhouse in NYC. Pretty cool. The food was excellent and the service too, as I'd hope for the money it cost!! But it was nice and I never get to eat nice dinners like that. It made me really happy to make my dad so happy too. Apparently he is a Dirty Sexy Money fan.... Pops is so down with it, yo!

So tomorrow my roomie's mom is coming to NYC to visit, and I found out a few days ago that it's to stay with US. In our dorm. I guess Tals has every right to invite her mom to come since she does live here and 1/4 of the apartment is essentially hers, but it was out of the blue and she didn't really ask us first. I'm excited to meet her but it will just be super weird having her staying in our apartment with us.... like SUPER weird. I'm not used to spending that much time with anyone's mother!

And to my uttermost joy, House is back on. Wilson in a reindeer hat just does funny things to me.

resolution....of sorts.

I need to become a nicer person.

Um that song's not that funny anymore.

LOL @ My grandma, who sent me this e-card for my birthday at like midnight:

Always a reference to my tits! Hey 19, how you doing?

And apparently my new moisturizer is giving me a rash. Boo.

The real life Dr. Tobias Fünke. I swear.

So I'm a sucker for the American Idol auditions because I love the crazy people who come on, and they are getting crazier by the season. Take this guy for instance: his name is Milo and when he walked on, I swear I thought it was David Cross!! From the clothing to the voice and the glasses and mustache and personality... and the song pretty much epitomizes Tobias, in my opinion. If the show ever comes back, this NEEDS to be part of an episode.

Nineteen tomorrow. I've somehow acquired $400 in the past few days but I will be damned if I spent it on something other than a birthday gift. I'm saving up for that stupid camera, thinking a Digital Rebel from Canon. But camera speak still confuses me so all the odds and ends are bits I'll have to sort out. Dream come true here I come.

EDIT: Milo has a MySpace!! AND a website! He's even been on Jimmy Kimmel. Kudos to you, Tobias-Twin, for making it in whatever way you have.

countdowns are so lame if no confetti is involved.

I had a birthday-type gathering at my house last night. It was kind of a bum-out at first since a couple of people cancelled, and Michelle and I ended up heading to California PIzza Kitchen for dinner ourselves. But in the end, it had turned into the fun, intimate night I had pictured. Chocolate strawberry shortcake and double birthday song since it was Clara's birthday at midnight, a game of Taboo that got drunkenly bombarded by my sister and her friend, videochat hijinx, gossip, lots of Guitar Hero, screwdriver, and a piggyback ride. Silly things happen in my basement, like Dan imitating MC Hammer after everyone left:

I think birthday shenanigans are definitely going to continue into the next week, into my actual birthday and probably beyond. Two week long celebrations could be my jam, alright?! I assume these events will also be littered with fun activities a la binge drinking, going out to eat, karaoke, etc. Not to mention two shows next weekend....going to see Au Revoir Simone on Friday night with Esther and Kevin Devine on Saturday with Lia and Jon, both at Bowery Ballroom. The first is a trio of girls from Brooklyn who make songs with three keyboards. It's fantastic. As for Kevin... well, if you don't already know who that leprechaun is, you've been missing out for far far too long.

As for presents, everyone keeps asking me what I want and I don't KNOW. The simple answer would be a designer pair of sunglasses, or a new fancy bag, but my heart really isn't set on that stupid materialistic crap right now. I need a new hobby, so I'm pining for a digital SLR camera to start working on fucking photography like I've wanted to forever. Or, (but possibly in addition), I'd like an acoustic guitar. I feel like I could get decent enough to write simple songs if I wanted to, and that would also quench my thirst to write through lyrics. Right now, though, I think the camera is a better investment...SO HEY PHOTOGRAPHERS, what should I be looking at? Can you give me any recommendations as to cameras/styles/brands? I'm thinking Canon or Nikon but I don't want to get ahead of myself.

Here, two Macbook pics from birthday thing since I didn't get many on my regular camera....

Ya that's my mom on the right, she wanted some iSight action.

Oh and I did make a birthday wish, but I can't tell you guys what it is cause then it may not come true and you can't see shooting stars in New York City.

ring me back when you aren't actually being penetrated

Just had one of the greatest days of vacation yet. Such a nice day too, like 60 degrees in the beginning of January?? Global warming is RUINING US. We went into the city to ice skate (at which time I found out I couldn't and got soaking wet because of the melty ice rink). I called and Alex while everyone else finished skating and then we headed over to Esther's for a baking/Arrested Development party. Anita and Christine met up and the rest of the night entailed Olive Garden, trying to sign all of them into my dorm at NYU and failing miserably, and going to hookah instead. The night ended with taro bubbletea and finding out my "friends" are as immature as I took them for. We'll see where that goes.

Anyway, my new favorite thing ever? This British drama/comedy called Skins. It's only aired there and I saw the season 2 promo on LiveJournal, was super curious, and checked it out. LOVED IT. It's about a group of friends who are all attending public college and are just fucking crazy. Really horny, want to party and get drunk/high constantly, and they're all combating their personal issues. Kind of like Degrassi on steroids and heroin. My favorite character is Sid, who is kind of in the shadow of his best friend Tony and is really a sweet guy who tries but is still kind of unlucky and a little dorky, even. He's the one in the glasses and the beanie:

And yeah, the dude to his left in the green tshirt is Nicholas Hoult, who was the little kid in About A Boy. KID GOT HOT! Even sexier, he's a huge douchebag on the show... SO do yourselves a favor and watch this show! Some online links are available at alluc.org.

My television addiction is becoming quite sad. The new episodes that will air in the next week are making me happy beyond belief (like the 2 hr premiere of One Tree Hill tomorrow night? Chinese take-out and I am there!), therefore it's going to be really depressing when everything is over and I am out of shit to watch. Legit out, since I've become a DVD box set monger. I'm already done with seasons 1 and 2 of Arrested Development... guess season 3 will be purchased as soon as I find it.... BUT WTF WRITER'S STRIKE?!? This cannot continue. I need DSM and Ugly Betty in my lives... a nationwide bakesale is in order to fix this entertainment problem.

Birthday soon. In less than 10 days, to be exact. Not that I am counting or awaiting nineteen with any excitement, because what fun is it honestly? I can buy cigarettes at home but I'm over smoking when I'm sober. Andy Jajja is going to be back in town the day before my birthday so he may come chill on Long Island and meet some peeps. That made me super happy talking to him tonight. And Alex earlier... I miss my NYU friends so much now. Yuck.

likes and dislikes

Here are some lists, since I'm too lazy to write all about winter break right now.

Currently liking...
- Being home and relaxing. I've gotten through 16 of 24 episodes of Ugly Betty Season 1. The show is wonderful and I'm hoping to be completely caught up by the time I get back to school.
- Seeing all of my friends from high school wherever and whenever I want. We get food, see movies, go bowling, chat and chill. Tonight I am going into NYC to some party at Webster Hall which I have a looming feeling will suck, but if I'm drunk and with my friends I prob just wont care.
- Daisy by Marc Jacobs. Thanks, Dad.
- Drinking lots of wine and martinis since I've been home.

Currently disliking...
- Car accidents. This one is self-explanatory, and no, nobody was hurt.
- Having to be the one of my friends who plans all of the parties and get-togethers. Don't get me wrong, it excites me and makes me happy to bring everyone together but it gets tiring after a while since I can't rely on other people to step up to the plate. I get irritated with chasing people down, especially when others are the ones who are supposed to be taking control. It makes me think no one else gives enough of a shit, and that's kinda sad.
- Not having my phone. Stupid me left it at Nikki's last night after our Harry Potter/Ugly Betty watching sesh and it's made me sad realizing how dependent I am on it.
- When I'm not listened to and then blamed for not saying what I've already said repeatedly. FRUSTRATING.
- NOT KNOWING WHAT I AM DOING NEW YEARS EVE. Kind of relates to the second bullet on this list.

I CAN REACH FINISH LINE???

I just got back from finishing my Spanish final and running some last minute educational errands, but I'm officially done with my first semester as a college student. I can't even believe it's been so long, but I guess what they say about time flying while you're having fun really holds. It scares me how fast it's going, especially now that I feel grown and like an adult. I've met so many amazing people at school thus far, even grown to love a few of them. I took real college classes, some that I liked but most that I didn't (but that may be school in general, the jury is still out). Plus I got an internship with an awesome label that I've been a fan of for a while, which despite not being associated with Island/Def Jam anymore will still rule the world one day. In my honest opinion, that is. And I got to meet really some really fucking wonderful people through Stolen Transmission too.

On the way back from all of this, I called my mom. And then I cried really long and happily.

For Christmas, in addition to buying all of my close friends here a little somthin-somthin, I am writing them holiday letters instead of holiday cards. I've always found holiday cards a bit more impersonal, especially when most people just buy cards in bulk and fill out the names of everyone they know to show they "care". Care is a little more heartfelt, in my opinion. So I went to a cute little stationary store on 13th street and picked out some awesome silver paper with matching envelopes. I've got only one left for my college friends and I still can't decide if I'm going to write for my friends from home. I might as well? One of the letters, to my best friend here, is a little more emotional than the rest of them for certain reasons. I was freaking out while writing it, but now I'm kind of stoked to give it to him.

So what does the rest of the weekend entail you ask?

1. Getting as drunk as I fucking can. I told my mom this on the phone.
2. Seeing Courtney and hitting up a Straylight Run/The Color Fred/Cassino show, and then going to Stolen Transmission (finally, it's taken me all of two and a half months!!) I am SO beyond excited to see Cassino live since I was the biggest nerd for Northstar.
3. Seeing Molly tomorrow, and for more than three hours at once!!

So uhh, yeah. I think that about wraps up whatever exciting shit I have to say at the moment. The weight has been lifted and I'm ready for my mega dosage of R&R. Happy holidays, since I prob won't write in here again til at LEAST Christmas.

Top of the morning to you, internet.

I just had a bite of the most delicious blackout chocolate cake for breakfast. Thanks, roomie.

The past week has been so fucking hectic! I registered for classes on Thursday afternoon and got all of the classes I want for next semester, but really awkward times for them. Like I have class all day Friday because for one class, it was the only recitation left, and my Video Art class is fucking 2-5:20pm. BUUULLLLSHIT. I kind of despise Albert.

Went to work yesterday, hated on MySpace a whole ton, then went out to dinner with the rest of InternPartySystem minus Lisa who had to peace and meet her friend. The busboys were creepy and kept staring, and our waitor was sooo weird. Afterward I went with roomie and suitemate to Times Square to wait for roomie's friend to get into Port Authority. We bought games from Toys R Us (Taboo = <3) and then went to Roxy diner to eat delish french fries and dessert. And then I hung out in Alex's room until 4am. Good times, good times for all.

Thankgiving needs to be here right now. I want to just fast forward the next couple of days until I'm seeing all of my besties from high school. Sometimes it pains me how much I miss them and I'm just so excited to spend a shitload of time with them and swap all of our crazy stories from college that we haven't already on the internet or video chat. Friends from high school and college are different, and I know they say college friends are for life but I really feel that way about my H.S. friends. I think if we drifted, it would've already happened, but we're all too good to each other.

I'm kind of ridiculously hungry right now. Guess the cake wasn't enough to satiate my hunger.

Pot calling the kettle black.

I swear it was just like an Alfred Hitchcock movie outside my house. My mom called me upstairs and I went to the glass sliding door in our dining room, and there were hundreds - literally HUNDREDS - of crows in our backyard. Sitting in trees, on wires, but most of them were by our pool and bathing. The first thing I asked my mom was if there was a dead body in our backyard haha but she thinks they're just flying south and stopping along the way for a bath. Let's hope it's just that!

So yeah, I decided on a whim to come home for the weekend. The past week was so emotionally and mentally stressful because of Halloween, tests, papers, etc. that I just decided I wanted to relax and get away from all of that. And it was really good! Yesterday, I went with family to this lady's house in Queens to do glass fusion. It's pretty easy and Marcy, the woman who helped us with it, was so sweet. I probably won't have mine until two weeks from now when I next come home, beause they take a long time to cool down. But I'm STOKED to be rocking my own shit.

Always one of a kind, baby.

I also ate dinner out with my mom one night and Clara yesterday, and I saw "Dan In Real Life" with her. It was okay, though I'm not really into those corny romantic comedies anymore. Plus Emily Blunt was in it, and i <3 her. However, the ending completely DESTROYED what dignity I thought the movie held. I won't say why but if you see it, you'll know why I vomitted from the cliche.

Didn't feel well on Friday when I woke up so I didn't go to my internship. Boo. So nothing fun to report on those fronts yet :(

BTW my renovated room is SO cute. I'll post pictures once I'm not too lazy to upload...

It's our town, everybody scream, in this town of Halloween

Happy day after Halloween!! My Halloween was pretty boring since I had a bunch of shit to do and couldn't go buckwild. I dressed up as the Queen of Hearts from Alice In Wonderland and everyone really loved my costume and told me it was their favorite. Hells yeah for awesome ideas. All my floormates ended up going down to the village parade together but we got separated after we went down 14th street to 6th ave and it was fucking packed. My group ended up two streets uptown and the rest of them went four streets downtown. Parade = so not a big deal, i am happy next year is going to be a Friday so I can get fucked up. We left and ate dinner at this place with awesome yam fries and that was that.

Then I came home and had a huge headache, so I went to sleep instead of studying for my huge Developmental Psych test and writing my first draft of a paper for Writing the essay. Oops.

I am kind of thrilled that this week is coming to its close. It's been so aggravatingly busy the past few days that I've wanted to cry at numerous points. I don't really deal with stress well. In most cases, I'll put off doing something that is going to cause me anxiety until the last minute. I.e. my essay that I have a meeting with my teacher lady for tomorrow at 8:45am. I'm hoping my psych recitation is cancelled so I can come home and maybe sleep another hr and a half before heading to Stolen Transmission.

I miss Long Island. It's silly since I wanted to be in the city so much but sometimes I just miss being able to drive around through suburban streets, go out to eat at actual legit sized restaurants, cuddle with my dog Emma, and see all of my high school friends. Next weekend I think I'm going home and possibly bringing home my roommates, definitely bringing home Alex. My new bed came and hopefully my sheets and comforter will too (my room just got redone), so there will be more than enough cuddle space.

InternPartySystem is going great. Everything is being developed, probably a lot will get done tomorrow when all five of us are at work. We were featured on the front page of Buzznet which is pretty cool. People on LJ already hate us hahaha. Whatever, negative attention is attention none the less. Most kids have been super enthusiastic about it and we're going to make sure they get their payoff in awesome ways for it.

Long entries are sooo underrated.
Pictures will be put here shortly.

Viva la Bald Man!

It's been some time since my last blog post, sorry about that!! I promise promise PROMISE I'm going to be writing in this thing a lot more. Not that it matters, since I doubt anyone actually reads this, but Google analytics might prove me wrong once I figure out how the hell it works.

I'm currently sitting in the living room area of my apartment-style dorm at NYU since my roommate is sleeping and I want to give her peace and quiet while I work. The weather is pretty shittastic today. I woke up and forgot to check the actual temperature so I walked outside with my friends Alex and Andy and it was fucking frigid. "This is shitty, I need a parka." Ohh how I am a hoot and a half.

So school is going pretty well. I love living in the city, even if I do sometimes wish for the suburban life a little. I miss driving around aimlessly in my car and watching tv in bed and cuddling my doggy and seeing all of my friends from high school. There have been substitutes, like walking around the village aimlessly, watching tv in our living room on our ugly couches, and cuddling boys. Nothing to replace my HS friends though. I've seen a lot of them a bunch throughout the first few months, but I have to wait until Thanksgiving for others and it just SUCKS.

What DOESN'T suck, however, is my new internship! I am working at Stolen Transmission as a graphic designer/website updater/whatever else they need-er. Ultragrrrl is the sickest boss ever. And I am pretty much in love with my fellow interns! We have started our own brigade, called InternPartySystem. We're going to be doing lots of cool contests whilst spreading the good name of ST's kickass music, plus we have our own blog and buzznet for posting about our daily adventures. Example of said adventures? Eating pizza ordered by none other than Bon Jovi last Friday. Sorry if this sounds pompous, cool shit like this just never happens to me.

BUT CHECK OUT INTERNPARTYSYSTEM AND ADD US AT THESE PLACES!!!

And now I am going to debrief and step back from talking selfishly about my life to something else that has come up in the past 24 hours. My AP Literature teacher from last year, Dr. Gansrow, has been suspended by our school's administrators. There are rumors circulating as to why this happened, ranging in different levels of vast stupidity (i.e. he introduced a book with some racy scenes in it, he was deemed "mentally unstable" after someone sat in on one of his classes). You don't know how much this fucking upsets me. Actually, it's upsetting everyone in Jericho - there are groups galore on Facebook to preach against the injustice currently being brought down on this guy.

He is one of the less orthodox teachers at school, but it's in a positively unique way that he teaches us. He's butted heads with administration before over things like budgeting and rules the school has implemented the last few years, but this is totally coming out of left field. Everyone is shocked and disgusted. Dr. Gansrow was one of the teachers who made coming to school during my senior year, when I was going through a lot of personal shit including bouts of depression, actually BEARABLE. I couldn't leave that class without having laughed throughout at least half of it. It disturbs me that the school wants to deny the kids this awesome experience with such an astounding and original teacher.

I emailed him last night, and his response back almost made me cry. He seriously doesn't deserve the shit that they are putting him through right now. I'm going to email the administration later today after I am done with my classes. VIVA LA BALD MAN!

And just for kicks, a picture when we went to see Spamalot last year:

I am the delighted yellow blob on the right.

i will start off this post by acknowledging the fact that my grandma reads my blog (or my pathetic excuse for one, anyway). hello gwam, you sexy thing, you.

so my genius friends and i decided to have a farewell party last weekend to say goodbye to each other before we are all off to start our first semesters at college. someone suggested having it be a luau theme so that's what we went with, leis and grass skirts and all. the party didn't really accomplish much good for me... yes, i was happy that all of my friends were there, but i was in such a bad mood because of everyone else throughout. my friend molly pulled the best stunt, though. she left with her boyfriend to go pick up my friend from christine, who had just come home from geneseo that day and needed a ride. christine came into the backyard but molly and her boyfriend never did.... another friend of mine wanted to get a sweatshirt from her car but had parked behind molly's car and so when they went out they saw molly and her boyfriend hooking up. and even after that, she never came back to the party. she called me around 8 to tell me devin's mom wanted him home, which everyone agreed was bullshit since i put the call on speakerphone.

the downlow on the boy is that molly has known him as an acquaintance through working at whole foods, but they just started hooking up three weeks ago. they started fucking around the same time and have only been dating a week from yesterday. i get that she likes him a lot but the reality is that the first time she gets really drunk or by the time he gets bored waiting around from her, one of them is going to stray to someone else and whatever amazing thing she thinks she has is going to be completely diminished. if they're fucking so early on, i think he's only using her for sex. but if she'd rather spend her time with him than saying goodbye to people she has known pretty much all her life, then she is more than welcome to be my guest.

the rest of the party was pretty annoying to me too. don't get me wrong, i love most of my friends to death and some even a little more than that. no one was really appreciative of the fact that we spent good money on the decorations, especially the leis (which people left all over the backyard and in my basement). the boys brought guitar hero and wanted to play that, and i thought that was kind of stupid because it's only two players. just askldjasd it was not really that much of an enjoyable party and by the end of the evening i was a hugely embarrassing asshole to the point that i had to call one of my most cared about friends to apologize the day after.

i had my second nasal surgery on the first of the month and the cast came off the following monday. it's still swollen but from what i can tell, it looks great. everyone else who has seen me thinks so too. my friends are so cute, they visited me and brought me lots of goodies while i still had my cast on to keep me company. i didn't work for the first two weeks of august because of all this, but i got to go back on tuesday to look after the cutest most adorable babies on the entire planet. this tuesday may be my last day depending on how soon i get packing and how much other stuff i need to buy. my roommate and i still haven't decided on who is bringing a tv. i think all of us are bringing our own dishes and crap which is okay by me since then i can use whatever i want and know i'm the one using it.... but all of my roommates are out of towners and i am only 40 minutes from home by train so if i bring extra stuff i can always take it home.

other than all of this i haven't really been doing much. just trying to hang out with everyone before we all go to college. one of my best friends is leaving tomorrow morning but it hasn't really set in yet that i am not going to see some of my friends for a long time. other plans for the weekend include purchasing other random things i need to bring to school, seeing superbad at one point or another, going to willa's surprise party for her brother tomorrow night. okay i've been writing this update for three days now so i am going to end it here. in parting, enjoy a video of my dog in a tshirt with chinese writing on it:

Wednesday, August 01, 2007

it has been about a month since i wrote my last post in here! what a shame. july seems to have just flown by before my very eyes, i still feel like school has just ended. that sucks because move-in day at NYU is less than a month away and i still need to plan a huge group get-together. my friend tiffany and i made a tentative date for it but a lot of people haven't responded yet, plus we don't know what exactly it is we're doing.... the summer has been wonderful but it's sucked in realizing i am not going to see all of my friends every day. i've been pretty good at hanging out with everyone on fair rotation but i want us all together one last time since my pool party was way too long ago.... yes, i am going to make a lot of new friends at school, but i will also miss my jericho friends like no other.

i had orientation at NYU a few weeks ago and wowww did i have an amazing time! i met so many awesome people, it was really fortunate. everyone is in the same boat as you and it's a good thing all the kids going to NYU are so damn open. i loved my orientation group, we hung out a lot and ended up going to some random hookah place off of 4th street the first night. i had so many conversations about harry potter that i couldn't even begin to tell you... but yeah lots of lovely people, lots of late night hangouts, and i was depressed a little when i had to leave and go back home. it basically just got me really pumped to be there in 26 days. oh, and i picked my classes.... i guess that's cool too.

my orientation group

our last moment together in the park :(

speaking of harry potter, dear god let's not talk about it. july very well could've been the best month of my life, with the 5th movie and the 7th book. i absolutely loved deathly hallows, minus a hundred pages in the middle and the epilogue. it's become my favorite book in the series with prisoner of azkaban a very close second (what? i am a sucker for the marauders). i finally dressed up for the midnight book release after all of these years of wanting to... i'm not really sure what stopped me before, i guess just the effort of finding everything intimidated me. it was actually pretty easy though.

here is the photo album on facebook, but two pictures from the night just to intrigue you:

so as far as a job goes... the places i applied to at the mall never called me back. NOT A SINGLE ONE!! motherfuckers. so i ended up working out a schedule with my aunts to go over and help with the babies for $10/hour in the afternoons on most weekdays. i love it because i get to spend so much time with my cute and cuddly cousins, but it is definitely exhausting. the best time is when they are content and want to play with you and giggle and smile. i've only gone over twice in the past two weeks because the babies went to get baptized in north carolina, and i am getting surgery done tomorrow (i work tuesday and thursday now but i used to work every day in the afternoon). but i'll definitely be over next week after i get my cast off!

i think that's seriously all i can think to write lmao i will start updating this more often since i absolutely hate the other blogging site i am on right now.....yeah. so peace out until a time very soon. it may even be tomorrow or the next day.

it could be better than this, but i'm okay with it now.

the past school year was a pretty difficult one for me. aside from the per usual stress of applying to college and trying to stay on top with marks, i had an emotional breakdown of sorts. everything piled up and came crashing down when i really didn't want it to, and it made the second half of the year one of the most ultimate hauls of my life. i even failed classes. but graduating a week ago made every tear, temper tantrum, and anxiety-provoking situation worth it. i picked up my diploma two days later and it set in stone the fact that the chapter of my life titled high school is, without a doubt, officially over.

i've become enamored with the idea of summer. i fall in love with it time and time again when i am hanging out with my friends, driving around with the windows down, or finding refuge from the excruciating heat in my backyard pool or the ocean at tobay beach. one of my favorite summer pasttimes is going to adventureland, and i got to do so yesterday with clara and nikki. absolutely amazing. we went at night so everything was lit up pretty and the lines weren't long. we even bought a picture of us on the log flume (after riding it twice since we didn't like the first photo).

my next big loads of excitement are my two harry potter events of the summer, the fifth movie and the seventh book. it's really and truly the end of an era, in literature and in my life in general. in all honesty, the harry potter series was so monumental to me growing up. reading the books made me want to become a writer, watching the films made me wobbly in the knees for british accents. it even enabled me to make friends, in person and through the internet. it's brought such excitement to my life, and also a kind of uninterrupted enthusiasm i don't think i'll find any other time in my life.

but summer is also bringing an onslaught of new-found responsibility. i am going away to school at the end of august and even though it isn't that far from home, actually being a full-time adult is worlds away. i still don't have a job but i've been looking, i even applied to 5 places at the mall a few days ago. still waiting for word but until then i think i'm going to help my aunts out with the babies. i'm going over tomorrow and tuesday and my aunt karen said she'd pay me for the hours i helped. and i hate that my grandma and mom have been so insistent on pointing out wherever my responsibility lacks. instead of making me want to be more responsible, it just makes me feel like shit.

however, right now i am going to my aunts' house for barbeque and to say goodbye to nancy, my aunt's partner's mom. it's her birthday and i need to go quickly write up a thank you card before i head over since she's been lovely and gave me a graduation present last week. hopefully next time i write in here it's on my new macbook!

been so busy since school ended! everyone wants to break loose and party/hang out constantly, so there has been a lot going on. thursday night was island fever, which included asian buffet, taboo, and lots of booze. i ended up driving myself home at 5:30am instead of falling asleep with people's feet in my faces, but i had to drive back in the morning to pick up my futon and nicole so we could go to school to see our spanish teacher. instead, a huge group of people ended up coming out and we spent the afternoon hanging by my pool eating pizza and drinking fruit smoothies.

saturday, one of my friends was having a pool party at his house and i got into a really yucky mood before i went so almost didn't go, but i told my friends i was going so i kicked some motivation into myself... i'm so happy i did since it was a blast! we swam, ate bbq, played badminton, and he even got a fucking pinata. i got a good whack in. the best part was sitting around a firepit roasting marshmallows and making smores, and singing and playing games like never have i ever. i didn't do very well at that game.... and yesterday i went to visit baby cousinfaces. spencer was grumpy and wanted lots to eat but he passed out afterward and then i almost passed out so i went home.

i told my sister i'd drive her to school this morning for a test so afterward, i picked up my spanish proj with nikki and then we drove around for half an hour looking for ihop. the place was so tiny but the food was delish and made up for it. they closed down the one closer to our houses... boo.

so yes, summer is exhausting but that is how it should be.
still don't have a job which is a bummer, seeing as i am BROKE!!! ugh

intro pt. 2

well in a weird stroke of fate, i've decided to clear out my blog and start fresh. the stroke of fate is that my friend clara made an account last night and without mentioning it to me, i said today i wanted to start blogging again. i've thus come to the conclusion that we are possibly the best friends ever.

my weekend was alright. saturday night i hung out with evan and we went to grand lux cafe, which is my favorite restaurant minus anything hibachi. we sat outside since the weather was nice. the food was great but our waiter didn't like evan since he doesn't know pastas well. then picked up kristen, went to evans for some quickie guitar hero schooling, and ended the night with ice cream and smoothies at baskin robbins. yesterday i went shopping with my mom and then went to my aunt's house to see babies. her partner just had twins, a boy and a girl, and they're the cutest things i've ever seen in my life!! i am considering being a mommy's helper over the summer as my job since the places i applied at the mall didn't call me back yet. we made bbq and had dinner and dessert and then i came home to watch entourage.

i went into the city today with my mom and sister to go to the doctor who did our nosejobs last summer. my bridge still isn't straight so i'm having a "tweak" done august 1st. i don't really think of myself as a superficial person or particularly self-conscious, but i guess this makes me a hypocrite. it's going to be tiny compared to the work he did last summer so whatever. the taxi ride over was crazy and long since the guy took the longest way possible, and it made me so nauseous that his assistant had to give me her bottle of water to take home. but now i'm feeling better and i even had some yummy shrimp and broccoli for dinner.

tomorrow is one of my closest friend's birthday tomorrow. she's having some thingy later this week and i still donno what to get her. anddd i officially have two days left of high school. that is the weirdest thing ever to say. when did i get so fucking old??!
